This project was imagined and designed from Vannes, Brittany, in the heart of a booming creative region.
RapUnivers is a platform dedicated to hip-hop culture, conceived as a digital crossroads for discovering the latest musical releases, listening to exclusive podcasts and reading album reviews.
The project's objective was twofold:
Createa strong, visually recognizableidentity.
Optimizethe user experience, facilitating quick access to content.
The site is inspired by the visual codes specific to the rap world: a raw, high-contrast aesthetic, with a dominance of dark colors (gray-black-dark green), enhanced by brighter elements (white text, accent touches). This contrast creates an immersive atmosphere, akin to the world of a music video or recording studio.
I opted for a bold, compact typeface for the title, reminiscent of concert posters, fanzines or mixtape sleeves. It immediately gives the platform a strong personality. Paragraphs and menus use a more neutral, legible typography, to maintain a comfortable reading experience.
- Highly visible main title: "L'Écho du RapUnivers" acts as a media hook.
- Strong image of the artist, in close-up with microphone, to give an iconic dimension right from the start.
- Directional lines in the background: they suggest the propagation of sound, an idea of viral diffusion and cultural impact.
The header is reduced to the essentials: Releases / Albums / Podcasts. Each section is a quick entry point to the content, so as not to break the rhythm of navigation. Animations are discreet but present (hover, fluid underlining), to add a modern touch.
The text "Your ultimate source for everything that makes rap culture tick" acts as an obvious slogan. It positions the entry platform as a reference in the field, and invites further exploration.
The entire design is mobile-first: well-spaced typography, intuitive navigation, condensed yet impactful content. The mobile UX reproduces the effect of a fluid Spotify/Netflix-style scroll, adapting navigation to natural gestures.
The call to action is discreet but effective: a series of prominent icons, inviting the user to join the community on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. This enables long-term loyalty outside the site.
